Abstract

The present study was undertaken to evaluate the antiradical and antioxidant properties possess by oxovanadium(IV) complexes. Free radicals are key factor to damage the biomolecules, cell organelles, and cell and tissues, which are responsible for metabolic as well as other chronic diseases. In our study, we find that VO-Threonine is most potent DPPH scavenging while VO-Glutamine shows least potent DPPH free radical scavenger. Further the inhibition patter of ABTS free radical, VO-Histidine complex shows is most effective inhibitor to quench the ABTS free radical among the twenty oxovanadium(IV) free radical. L-Cystine amino acid was the good antioxidant activity in comparison to others amino acids while VO-Lysine demonstrates the valuable antioxidant properties. Further we concluded that there no significant correlation between antiradical and antioxidant compounds.
